Free accessible ship registries / databases / ship lists
d'Equasis www.equasis.org Extensive ship database, including more or less detailed technical data for each ship, depending on the belonging / linked ship register (search dialog via 'Search'). Inside of a ship dataset the classification status is accessible via the button 'Classification'. By using 'Surveys' you'll get to the current ship register.
Below you will also find direct links to some registries, which include more detailed ship data.
American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) http://absapps.eagle.org Online ship register, including detailed ship information and technical data. (after answering a security question search directly via the opening screen by using the search dialog. If there is any success, you'll get to the related data set by clicking on the ships name)
Bureau Veritas (BV) - sea-going ships - www.veristar.com Online ship register for sea-going ships, including detailed ship information and technical data. (search directly using the search dialog)
Bureau Veritas (BV) - inland navigation vessels - www.veristar.com Online ship register for inland navigation vessels, including detailed ship information and technical data. (search directly using the search dialog)
Croatian Register of Shipping (CRS) http://report.crs.hr Online ship register, including detailed ship information and technical data. (search directly via the opening screen by using the search dialog)
Danish International Ship Register (DIS) www.skibsregister.dma.dk This register offers the most important technical data for all types of vessels except naval vessels, even for those which don't have an IMO, as smaller fishing vessels, etc., but unfortunately only in Danish language (search directly in the displayed screen) - this link isn't active currently!
Det Norske Veritas / Germanischer Lloyd (DNV-GL) https://vesselregister.dnv.com/ Online ship register, including relatively detailed ship information and technical data. (search in the opening screen via name or IMO, then via the interesting ship name shown in the table below).
Japanese Register of Shipping (NKK) www.classnk.or.jp Online ship register, including detailed ship information and technical data. (search directly via the opening screen. If there is any success, you'll get to the related data set by clicking on the ship's name)
Korean Register of Shipping (KRS) www.krs.co.kr Online ship register, including detailed ship information and technical data. (direct search inside of 'Costumer Services' by using the 'Search' button. Below the search dialog a single hit or a hit list will appear, depending on the search. By using the link 'Class No' you'll get to the related ship data set)
Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS) / Norwegian Ordinary Ship Register (NOR) www.nis-nor.no Both registries are managed together and offer the most important technical data for all types of vessels except naval vessels, even for those which don't have an IMO, as smaller fishing vessels, etc. (search directly in the displayed screen). If searching by ship name, you'll only need a part of the name (without using "*") to get to a hit table, you can choose from, which will appear beside the search screen. It should be noted that these registries require the Norwegian notation in this case, i.e., "VÆRØY". For users who are unable to use these Norwegian characters, an alternative character is offered: the basic principle is that the character "%" replaces both, the function of the "*", as well as the Norwegian characters, but only as a standard character, i.e.: "VÆRØY" is equivalent to "V%R%Y".
Russian Maritime Register Of Shipping (RMR) www.rs-head.spb.ru Except for the shipbuilder this online ship register offers detailed ship information and technical data. (search directly via the opening screen and next, after getting a hit, via the button "SHIP", located to the right)
Swedish list of ships www.skargardsbatar.se This website in Swedish language offers a large ship list of smaller vessels flying the Swedish flag. Nearly the complete technical data is available as well as the history of each vessel.
Turkish Ship Register (Turk Loydu - TL) www.turkloydu.org The link refers to the English entry screen. There you will find several possibilities to search. If you use the lists of owners or managers, their vessels will be listed. By click on a ship name or another item the ship register will be opened, which is divided into various ship parameters, which also will be opened by clicking. Even when using a ship name or the IMO as a search criterion, in case of a hit the vessel name or another item has to be clicked to get access to the relevant register entry.

"Welcome at the Container Ship Register. At this website you can find lots of technical information of (almost) all containerships of the world. Almost all information on this site has been found somewhere on the World Wide Web, but unfortunately not everything can be found on the internet. A small amount of ships (smaller than 500 teu) are not (yet) online. I am working on this!
The purpose of this site is to give an overview of all containerships on the world. With a lot of ships which sail in services of Maersk Line, CMA-CGM, Evergreen, Senator, Hyundai, Hanjin, Norasia, Hapag Lloyd, NYK, MOL, MSC and Yang Ming, the information about the service is also available, all of them with a graphical overview. Also a section with all planned newbuildings is available. The information inside this section is far from complete, but it gives an idea of newbuildings to be expected.
