Comment view on the memorial to the hunger strikers of 1981 - excerpt from Wikipedia: the Irish hunger strike of 1981 was the end point of a five-year protest by republican prisoners during the Northern Ireland conflict. Ten members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) died in this hunger strike, including "Bobby Sands", who had been elected to the British House of Commons shortly before his death.
