| Comment | the "Vardøhus Fortress" is an octagonal fortress, built to defend the Finnmark from Russian aggressions. It was constructed about 1300 by "King Håkon V. Magnusson" and since then the eastern most fortress of Norway and the northern most fortress of the world. Between 1734 and 1738 "King Christian VI." reconstructed the fortress into an octagonal star type one. The following pictures show different views of this facility. |
