Additional Information |
3rd ship of a series of almost identically constructed cargo ships of the shipyard type "Ryn" / "Rhine" (1st generation, 39 vessels) - without the ships of the sonamed „Au" class“ of the shipping company "Erwin Stralmann" (2nd generation, 17 vessels, type ship: >Eider<) - the ship dragged anchor and drifted to shore at Tuzla, Turkey in the night of February 27th 2020 in adverse weather. The ship allided with the 'Dede' which was anchored in the vicinity, got entangled, and both ships ended up on the breakwater. The 'Clavigo' came to rest on the breakwater with a list to starboard and could be reached with a gangway to shore. Both crews, on the whole 13, were rescued safely. Later the 'Clavigo' has been refloated and was taken to Tuzla anchorage. The repairs to the damage could not be planned, and due to the expensive repair budget and the vessel has been sold to Turkish breakers at Aliaga. The towage operation commenced on March 31st. The ship arrived Aliaga on April 2nd and was beached the same day for demolition. |
