single ship - equipped with 4 derricks of a lifting capacity of 2.5 ts each - according to "Equasis.org": total loss (status of November 19th 2023) - the ship dragged his anchor during storm "Bettina" on November 19th 2023 and struck the breakwater while sheltering at Eregli, Turkey and sank. The 12 crew died but only 5 bodies were recovered. The vessel is to be salvaged to try to find further bodies. Turkish Navy and Coastal Safety special underwater SAR teams have descended to the sinking site of the 'Kafkametler' on Dec 4. Various underwater surveys and divers inspection were conducted. The vessel was found broken up into four sections at the Eregli breakwater. |
