1st ship of a series of identically constructed container ships (3 vessels) - equipped with 3 cranes of a lifting capacity of 45 ts each - in 2008 the ship was renamed >Rio Sao Francisco<, in 2013 >Esperanza N< and in 2021 >TSS Pearl< - the ship caught fire on October 5th 2022 in the aft container deck while in the Red
Sea 80 miles SW of Al Qahma, Saudi Arabia at 17.33.30N 040.33.25E sailing from Jeddah to Aden. She
lost power and drifted. The 25 crew were rescued by other vessels and she was abandoned, sinking to a water depth of around 1000 meters on October 13th 2022. |
