Additional Information |
3rd ship of a series of identically constructed cargo ships (3 vessels) - in 2007 the ship was renamed >Niels Stevns< and in 2012 >Kilic 1<. According to Vesseltracker: on November 20th 2018 a fire broke out in the engine room of the >Kilic 1< which was underway from Tunisia to Güllük, Turkey. The 11 Turkish crew members had to abandon ship 8.3 nautical miles south of Cape Tainaros, Greece and were rescued by the cruise ship >Costa Luminosa<. The fire was extinguished in the night of November 21st. As permanent repairs of the fire damage on the >Kilic 1< couldn't be carried out due to expensive repair budget, the vessel was towed to Aliaga breakers, where it arrived early in March 2019 - acoording to "Shipspotting.com": beached Aliaga, Turkey on April 11th 2019 for demolition |
