17th ship of a series of almost identically constructed cargo ships of type "Volgo-Balt" (65 vessels in design "2-95A") - also see >Evgenia< (design "791") and >Volgo-Balt 107< (design "2-95") - in 2009 the ship was renamed >Fort Azov< - >Fort Azov< sank after developing a list in Black Sea one mile north of Ayancik, Turkey in position 41.58N, 034.35E on 19/02/2015. She had diverted to Ayancik because her timber cargo shifted whilst on voyage from Varna to Fatsa, Turkey. The crew abandoned ship to life rafts and were rescued by the coastguard. |
