in 2015 the ship was renamed >Green Light< and >Maestro< - on January 21st 2019 in Kerch Strait, Black Seaduring a fuel transfer from >Maestro< to the LPG tanker >Candy< (IMO: 9005479), an explosion followed by fire occurred on board of the gas tanker which spread to the "Candy". Both ships were anchored 15 miles off the Crimean coast. 14 crew members from both tankers died in explosion and fire. After more than 5 weeks, the fire on the >Maestro< and >Candy< could be fully extinguished on February 23rd. Later on >Maestro< was declared a total loss and was towed to Aliaga, Turkey for demolition, where the tanker arrived on Augsut 1st. |
