10th ship of the original sonamed Norasia-Lines "Norasia Samantha" class (10 vessels in design "NG254 FFB", 5 from HDW Kiel and 5 from Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co. Ltd.), also see >MSC Edith<, >MSC Marylena<, >MSC Caitlin<, >MSC Mia Summer< and >Hertford< - these "open hatch" container ships of type "NG254 FFB" (Fast Feeder Containership), also known as container frigates, were characterized by a very high speed for the time and a very special appearance. Visually, the hull design of the China buildings differed somewhat from the HDW buildings. On its maiden voyage, the type ship >Norasia Samantha< set a speed record for cargo ships of 26.15 knots. |
